Would rate 0 if I could. On 11/17, we rented a car from Sixt through Expedia. On 1/2, I accidentally drove over a nail. I called Sixt to see what they wanted me to do. They said to put the spare on & drive to the closest sixt to exchange the vehicle. The closest one was 89 miles away & it was unsafe to drive that far on a donut tire. My sister, an additional driver on the vehicle went to a tire place for a patch, so I could drive it to Sixt to exchange it. They informed her that the tires were bald unsafe & illegal to drive. They called Sixt & were told that she would purchase tires & be reimbursed. She asked if it was guaranteed & they said yes. So she went ahead & did it. She was informed that they needed to speak to me, the main driver, before they could add the official note to the account. Customer service was awful & their phone number sent us to a wrong number 3 times. When we finally talked to someone she said she couldnā€™t guarantee the reimbursement because we didnā€™t purchase the insurance packet. Bald tires should have nothing to do with insurance. We couldnā€™t have caused bald tires. The car was a 2024 w/ <30,000 mi, so how did the tires get that bald unless they put old tires on the vehicle? At first, when I returned the car, it seemed that it was going to be easy & I would have my money back. The way they reimbursed me was by giving me a discount on the rental (for the cost of the tires). However, I have still not received my money back despite many disputes with customer service. They keep telling me they sent my refund but I never received it. Sixt said it would come through Expedia but they say they never received it & the rental company told them the reimbursement was already sent to us. I asked sixt to tell me where it was sent & now they have not responded to my email in a week. I originally just wanted reimbursed for the tires but after the whole ordeal, I want my entire refund. They should be held responsible for renting out a vehicle that was unsafe and illegal to drive on the road.

Back in mid December I rented a minivan for April 2 through April 14, 2025. We had to amend our rental dates and change the drop off to April 13, 2025, one day earlier. Because I was making this change in February, they then charged me the February rates for the entire rental time period, which was over $2000 more than I was quoted in December. When I called The phone number they told me that thatā€™s just how it is because I was dealing with February rates at that point. WORST POLICY/CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER SEEN AND I HAVE BEEN RENTING CARS FOR MANY, MANY YEARS šŸ¤¬

Found a much less expensive, newer minivan at Makoa rentals on Maui.

Do not give Sixt your business. Maybe theyā€™re fine domestically in the US, but they lie on their website and via their customer service regarding reservations. I paid for a reservation in full for a rental in Mexico. Sixt Mexico then charged me over what I paid and by a substantial amount. Sixt responded that Sixt Mexico is a franchise and too bad for me. Horrible companies, both of them. The car was also a bucket of bolts like I was worried about whether it would make the trip.

My recent experience with Sixt Rent a Car has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. I rented a vehicle from their Atlanta International Airport location, and returned it in the exact same condition as when I picked it up. However, weeks later, I was shocked to receive a damage claim alleging scratches to the front bumper, rear bumper, and a rim on the passenger side.

Unfounded Damage Claim: The photos provided by Sixt as ā€œevidenceā€ of the damage show nothing but shadows, reflections, and water droplets. There are no visible scratches or any proof of the alleged damage. This feels like an attempt to hold me financially responsible for something I did not cause.

No Inspection at Return: When I returned the car, there was no staff present to inspect it or confirm its condition. To protect myself, I took photos of the car at the time of return, which clearly show it was in the same condition as when I picked it up.

Baseless Accusations: Sixt has completely ignored my photographic evidence and my clear explanation that I had no incidents during the rental period. Instead, they have insisted on pursuing this baseless claim.

Pattern of Fraudulent Practices: After researching further, I discovered that I am not alone in this experience. Hundreds of similar complaints have been filed against Sixt, accusing them of fraudulent damage claims. This points to a recurring issue that cannot be ignored.

I strongly advise anyone considering renting from Sixt to think twice. Their approach to handling damage claims is, at best, unprofessional and, at worst, predatory. If you do rent from them, make sure to document everything thoroughly and be prepared to dispute unjust claims.

Sixt, I urge you to improve your practices and treat your customers with fairness and integrity. For now, I cannot recommend this company to anyone.

AVOID! This company has a terrible consumer reputation. Known for bait & switch, false damage, grossly inflated damage claims, and strongarm claims tactics. Online search will show 1000s of consumer complaints and multiple class action lawsuits.

In my case, Sixt did bait and switch from the Toyota Camry I reserved to a Nissan Altima. When I arrived at my destination on my first day driving the car, I noticed that the passenger side front fender panel was sagging and that two plastic clips holding the fender had snapped. Although there was no specific incident or accident that caused this, I presumed that it occurred on a 10-mile stretch of VT Route 30 that was being resurfaced and had many potholes. I photographed the fender and filed the damage report to Sixt when I returned the car. 6 months later, I received an invoice from Sixt for $3,426 along with Sixts report stating that the car had been in a "crash!"

I provided a written rebuttal demonstrating how the terms of the rental agreement are not applicable and challenged the company's false reporting and inflated bill. Sixt continues to be dogged in its pursuit of its claim and desperately wants the contact info for my insurance carrier. Sixt's sleazy strategy likely contributes increases in auto insurance premiums for ALL consumers. I have filed a complaint with MA Attorney General.

I would give 0 stars if I could. Picked up a car today from Sixt in dfw airport location, that was my first mistake. Should have stuck with Hertz like I typically do. The gentleman with shoulder length hair sitting in the left corner of the entrance of Sixt- when asked about adding an additional driver, he told me there was a charge. Meanwhile quickly swiping past the advertisement inside the check in office stating ā€œno charge for additional driverā€ we said oh okay. Then this is where it gets worse. There are disclosures on the little screen on the desk. The man said- next we need to add the insurance coverage to your car emphasis on the word NEED. As he QUICKLY SWIPES THROUGH PAGES OF DISCLOSURES ON THE SCREEN AND THEN SAYS HERE ARE THE INSURANCE OPTIONS. Now, this is not my first time renting a vehicle. And when I had booked this car in September I had remembered reading that coverage is NOT REQUIRED. But itā€™s also 7am and Iā€™m there with my infant and 6 year old getting ready to travel for the holidays so Iā€™m thinking maybe Iā€™m just not remembering correctly. I then ask CLEAR AS DAY- and I NEED to do this? I have to, I donā€™t have a choice? His response- YES. As he has the page with the options and cost. So Iā€™m kicking myself thinking why did I rent here? The other places never required this. Iā€™ve never been forced to do this. Naturally I pick the cheapest one because Iā€™m annoyed but made to feel like I have no choice. I eat the additional almost $400 dollars and even mentioned that I was not anticipating this. Too late now. So two hours later we start our trip and itā€™s really bothering me so I do a basic google search and CLEAR AS DAY SIXT STATES WE ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PURCHASE THE COVERAGE. I didnā€™t even have to dig to find it. Iā€™ve already contacted the help line IMMEDIATELY who admittedly stated- you are actually the second person today that Iā€™ve had to raise this same ticket for at this location. And apologized and thanked her for her transparency. Will be requesting to speak to the direct supervisor/manager of this location and will be looking into locating any form of ā€œcorporateā€ office location to escalate. I know the agentā€™s are incentivized to sell these packages, Iā€™d hope you arenā€™t TRAINING the employees to operate this way as it is criminal. Iā€™m left now wondering if my card information is even safe with sixt or the gentleman at the counter. Wishing I could have just given the car back and walked over to Hertz like I should have to begin with. Very much looking forward to returning from our holiday trip and confronting this issue. In the meantime Iā€™ll continue calling. But very rave reviews for the customer help line. If you do rent a car from this specific location I suggest you record your interaction and take names to cover yourself. Ridiculous.

Do not rent from this company if you can avoid it. I rented a vehicle for a couple of days while awaiting my personal vehicle to be repaired. The mechanic took longer than expected so I extended the rental. They then emailed me saying that the rental was 4 days late and to return it before law enforcement was involved. I responded promptly and told them that wasnt necessary and that I wanted to extend my rental and to use the card on file. They told me the card was declined for the amount and as I was driving at the time I told them I would need to look into that as I knew my card had enough to cover the balance and additional days. When I checked my balance I saw that I did indeed have the funds to cover the charge and there was no declined or pending charges on the card so I emailed them to run the card again. They then sent me multiple emails saying that I had not responded to their multiple calls (I hadnt received any) and that if I did not have the car back by 11:30 pm it would be reported stolen. I saw that email at 11pm. I responded again and said I was sorry for not seeing the message sooner but will happily bring the vehicle back if someone would just assure me that it was not currently reported as a stolen vehicle as I did not want to risk gettig pulled over on the way to the airport rental car agency. Nobody responded. I sent another email to their customer support email found on their website contact us page saying I had not gotten any responses to my previous emails and that I would return the vehicle if they would just answer me. No response for 2 days until AFTER they sent a tow truck to take the car back, saying that I had not returned the vehicle and that it was now reported to local PD, as though I had not tried to contact them multiple times. Completely unnecessary and unprofessional.

It is by far the worst car rental company you will ever have to deal with. When calling there phone number itā€™s not even in the US. The folks that do answer will not help at all. Trust me you DONā€™t ever want to rent a car from these folks ever. I did speak to someone called Jaz Z in customer service who claims to be a supervisor and she was absolutely rude and horrible. Did not want to listen to me at all. She also kept interrupting me over and over again. Just read the other reviews nothing over 1 star.
